AS9120 — Aerospace Distributor Quality Management

Aerospace parts distributors are under increasing scrutiny from primes and OEMs who need confidence in part traceability, counterfeit prevention, and handling controls. AS9120 certification is how you provide that confidence — and stay on approved supplier lists.

Aerospace parts distribution and quality management
What it is

The quality standard for aerospace parts distributors

AS9120 is the IAQG quality management system standard designed specifically for stockists, distributors, and independent distributors of aerospace, defense, and space parts and materials. It is built on ISO 9001 and adds requirements specific to distribution: part traceability, counterfeit parts prevention, storage and handling controls, and documentation of product conformity throughout the distribution chain.

As aerospace supply chains tighten, prime contractors and OEMs increasingly require their distributors to hold AS9120 OASIS registration — not just ISO 9001 certification. Without it, distributors risk losing approved supplier list status with customers who are themselves AS9100 certified.

Key AS9120 requirements

Product traceability

  • Complete traceability from manufacturer to end customer
  • Certificate of conformance and documentation chain management
  • Lot and batch segregation and identification controls

Counterfeit parts prevention

  • Documented processes for detecting and preventing counterfeit or suspect unapproved parts
  • Supplier approval and monitoring for authorized distribution channels
  • Quarantine and disposition process for suspect parts

Storage & handling

  • ESD, humidity, temperature, and shelf-life controls for sensitive aerospace parts
  • Receiving inspection and first-article verification processes
  • Inventory control and obsolescence management

Our AS9120 implementation approach

Practical, distribution-focused, and built to pass the OASIS audit on the first attempt.

  1. 1

    Gap assessment

We compare your existing processes against AS9120 Rev B requirements — traceability, counterfeit controls, supplier management, and documentation chain — and produce a prioritized findings report.

  2. 2

    QMS build

Quality manual, distribution procedures, traceability records, counterfeit parts prevention program, and all required documentation — written for your actual product types and customer base.

  3. 3

    Internal audit & readiness

Full internal audit, management review, and pre-certification readiness check so there are no findings surprises when the CB arrives.

  4. 4

    OASIS registration support

We attend and support your certification audit, manage nonconformance responses, and track corrective actions to achieve OASIS listing on schedule.
